WGBC plans week of global action to promote net zero buildings

From 25 September to 1 October, hundreds of businesses, NGOs and individuals around the globe will joinyly celebrate the positive role green buildings play as part of World Green Building Week 2017.

The event organised by the World Green Building Council (WGBC) is highlighting the need for net zero buildings under the banner #OurHeroIsZero.

When buildings are net zero they use clean energy, are highly efficient and don’t waste energy – helping in the fight against climate change.

The event will be launched with a worldwide webinar to discuss net zero buildings. This will present the WorldGBC’s Advancing Net Zero project, explaining how to achieve net zero.

During the week Green Building Councils around the world will host a range of green events. The UK Green Building Council will celebrate its 10-year birthday party while the Emirates GBC’s will launch its Net Zero Energy Report. WorldGBC’s partners will also be hosting events and engaging in the week.

JPMorgan Chase, a member of the Corporate Advisory Board, will be hosting an event in New York to disucss to renewable energy and building efficiency, and will include a panel session with speakers from the bank, US Green Building Council and WorldGBC.

Buildings can be heroes in the fight against climate change, stresses WGBC. The involvement of people at all levels is needed and WGBC’s own outreach efforts means it is on track to reach over one million people on social media through irs Thunderclap campaign.

During World Green Building Week it will promote discussion about net zero buildings on social media through the hashtags #OurHeroIsZero and #WGBW2017.
