In early June 2017, the 8th International Infrastructure Investment & Construction Forum (IIICF) was held in Macao, organized by the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA). In conjunction with the IIICF a Construction Climate Challenge (CCC) seminar took place as a parallel forum, hosted by Volvo Construction Equipment. The theme of the seminar was “Addressing the Impact of Climate Change and Carbon Reduction in Infrastructure Construction”.

At the Macau seminar, approximately 70 industry representatives, academics, associations, making up stakeholders and decision makers from all areas and levels of construction industry were united around sustainability research and development. Subject experts and speakers presented their views on the challenges and opportunities associated with climate change in the construction sector, and discussed global best practices.

Specifically, the speakers shared recent experiences and ideas on energy saving in the construction industry, and new technologies and business models for a sustainable construction industry. Furthermore, the panelists discussed and shared observations and experience on lowering carbon emissions in the construction industry value chain and actions taken to realize a low carbon footprint in infrastructure projects.
