Projects seminar at Bauma

On April 13 2016, the Construction Climate Challenge hosted a seminar at the Bauma Construction Trade Fair in Munich.

The main theme for the 60 minutes seminar was climate footprint and challenges in major infrastructure projects. The panel of speakers presented their views and shared examples of how this is being addressed in both the procurement and operation phases.

The President of Volvo Construction Equipment Martin Weissburg hosted the event, that was facilitated by Terri Wills, CEO of World Green Building Council.

Martin Weissburg, 
President, Volvo Construction Equipment

Martin Weissburg

Martin assumed the position as president of Volvo Construction Equipment, the second largest division of the Volvo Group, January 1st, 2014. He has previously worked in a number of roles in the construction and equipment industries.
In 2005 Weissburg joined the Volvo Group’s customer finance company, Volvo Financial Services (VFS) – firstly as president of its North American business, quickly expanded to cover all of the Americas, then ultimately becoming global president in 2010.

Terri Wills 

CEO, World Green Building Council

Terri Wills

Terri Wills is the CEO of the World Green Building Council, an organisation uniting 100 Green Building Councils that green building through market transformation. Previously, Terri was with the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group where she spearheaded C40’s networks that have had a direct impact on policy in over half of C40 cities. Terri also served as the London City Director for the Clinton Climate Initiative, worked with the Government of Ontario on clean technology and creative industry development, and worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation as a Head of Strategy. Terri is Canadian, based in London, UK.

Stefan Uppenberg
Sustainability Consultant, WSP Group

Stefan Uppenberg

Stefan has a M.Sc. in Environmental and Aquatic Engineering, and more than 15 years’ experience of working with sustainability in infrastructure projects. His focus area is development and implementation of methods, tools and requirements for carbon footprint calculations and environmental product declarations, EPD, based on life cycle assessment, LCA, for infrastructure projects. He has also been a driving force for developing the use of sustainability assessment schemes, like CEEQUAL, within Sweden Green Building Council (SGBC) for clients like Trafikverket (National transport administration), Skanska, NCC and other actors in the Swedish civil engineering business.

Mark Fenton 
Climate Change Specialist, High Speed Two Ltd

Mark Fenton. TD Environment team. Staff Portrait. HS2 Ltd.

Mark Fenton joined HS2 in March 2013 and works in the Technical Directorate leading on the development of the technical specifications, standards and processes to minimise the carbon footprint of HS2. Before HS2 Mark worked at CH2M as a Sustainability Consultant in their Sustainable Buildings team. In this role he worked with asset owners, developers, designers and contractors to develop and deliver sustainability objectives across a variety of residential, non-domestic and mixed-use developments. Mark graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Masters degree in Environment and Climate Change.

Dave Ross
VP Advanced Technology & Verification, Volvo Construction Equipment

Dave Ross

Dave Ross assumed the role of vice president of Advanced Technology & Verification at Volvo CE in 2014. In his role, he supports over 450 people globally across 10 different engineering sites and is tasked with exploring, maturing and proving new technologies using advanced virtual and physical verification methods.

Previously, Dave has held a number of senior positions across the globe, solving customer problems from Alaska to Australia.
