Together we can make construction more circular

Construction waste is an important issue as well as the need to preserve natural resources to the greatest extent. Studies show that global construction waste will nearly double to 2.2 billion tons by the year 2025. In Europe, about 25–30 percent of the total waste generated every year comes from construction and demolition – and very little of it is recycled. Several initiatives are needed to reduce waste, both new and not used, as well as supporting the reuse of material from the end of life of an existing building or infrastructure asset not fit for extended life. However, the CO2 reduction potential related to reuse of material needs to be analyzed per site or project specifically.
